Jewellery, Touch and Intimacy - How Does Jewellery Make You Feel?

A dissertation on jewellery, touch, and intimacy - by Alana Sweet

Jewellery is rarely just decoration. We wear it close to our bodies, give it to people we love, and attach memories and meaning to the pieces we choose to keep. In this dissertation, I explore the deeply personal relationship between jewellery and the body, and how the things we wear can shape how we feel, remember and experience ourselves.

Drawing on ideas around touch, intimacy, embodiment and materiality, I explore why jewellery can hold such powerful emotional meaning. Rather than considering jewellery simply as an object, I look at it as something we physically experience - through touch, movement, sensation and connection.

Jewellery, Touch and Intimacy - How Does Jewellery Make You Feel? explores the emotional and physical relationship we have with the jewellery we wear, and the ways in which it can become intertwined with our everyday lives.
